Our Fun and Exciting Weekend!

This weekend Kylan had so much fun he didn't even want to take naps or sleep in in the morning. As a result mom needed a big nap Sunday! However, we did have a very fun weekend. On friday, we had Bradon half of the day while his mom was at work. Kylan loves watching Bradon do all the fun things he wishes he could do, and Bradon is really good with Kylan. He brings him toys and shows him how they work! As if Bradon wasn't enough fun, we also picked up Reed and Carissa after school and had them during the whole weekend while their parents were in Denver. Both Bradon and Kylan were so excited to see them! Then, to top it all off Tim took his first day off since they began cutting corn about 3 weeks ago (that was my favorite part).

On Saturday we went to Carissa's soccar game. We had a water emergency, but thank goodness there is a snack stand at the soccar fields! We decided sparkling berry flavored water probably wouldn't be the best to drink during a soccar game! Carissa did very well and her team kicked butt! Don't let the sunny pictures fool you though, it was windy and cold! In fact it became colder and colder as the game went on! But we made it and Kylan had a lot of fun playing on the grass. He loves the grass and has to be watched carefully because he loves to eat the grass!

Sunday wasn't too exciting. We just went to church and took naps, but we are so glad that Reed and Carissa stayed with us. Poor Kylan on Monday was lost without them! And I was missing their help with him! I think about 9 years between kids is a great idea!!

P.S. Kylan discovered that shoe laces are very tasty and spent most of Saturday with his shoe hanging from his mouth!

6 Months Old

So, when I posted yesterday I forgot that Kylan is 6 months old as of Saturday. Yea Kylan! He is growing so much! Here are his newest things:

  • Says "Dada" and "Mama" and seems to kind of know what they mean (if I have him and he gets mad he starts saying dada, and if Tim has him and he gets mad he says mama)

  • Sits up by himself most of the time - he still will fling back once in awhile, but does it pretty well by himself

  • Gets in crawling position, but prefers to scoot on his belly to get around (see video)

  • Gives kisses, especially to mom, although they are very slobbery, I love them!

I just took this video this morning of him chasing his toy. We do have an area rug, but it's easier to scoot on the wood, so he immediately leaves the rug when I put him down! I guess I will have to be better about sweeping my floor, or else I am going to have one dirty little boy!

Nothing too new . . .

Well, it's been about a week since I last posted, so I thought I would post something so no one would think we fell of the face of the earth. The only new thing is that Kylan has a pretty bad cold. On Friday I subbed for Elaine for last hour so that she and Teri could get the 3:00 dinner for the varsity football time done. Since Teri was doing that and my mom was working in Fernley, Kylan had to ride in the dump truck with Tim while they cut corn. Tim said he was acting kind of funny - coughing and his eyes were watering, so we thought maybe he was alergic to the corn since it runs in the family. So being the wonderful mother I am (sence the sarcasm) we took him to the football game that night where it was cold and then to Reed and Carissa's football and soccar games the next morning before I realized, gee, he's really warm. Yep, 100 degree fever and bad cold. Now that we have medicine he seems to be doing better, although he is definitly ready every 4 hours for his medicine, and I am sick of feeling like I am abusing him everytime I have to suction his nose!

So, we kept him home from church today and had Tim's fam over for dinner. Even though our house isn't very big, we still enjoy having family over! Here are a couple pics from today. I especially like the one of Ky, Bradon and Grandpa. Grandpa sure does love his grandbabies, and they love him, especially Bradon. He hasn't totally gotten used to having to share grandpa with Kylan, thus grandpa has become very good at holding them both at the same time!

Happy Birthday Rayanne

Today was my sister-in-law Rayanne's birthday. Her hubby arranged a surprise party for her, and it was a success - she didn't know it was coming, and we had a ton of fun! Unfortunately, I have no pics from it because my child was very cranky from lack of sleep (product of mom subbing in the morning and helping with the party all afternoon). I also realized, in doing this post that I have very few pics of Rayanne. The first one is from Christmas 2006 and the other one is from when Ky was born and her, Gavin and Bradon came to visit us in Utah. Neither does her justice (sorry Rayanne). She is beautiful on both the outside and the inside and I am so blessed to have her as a sister-in-law. She is so sweet and such a good friend! So, happy birthday to you Rayanne! We love you!

Fallon vs. Douglas

Well, unfortunately Fallon's 1 game winning streak was ended last night. But before I get to the slaughter I must vent on a few things. First of all, there are way too many stop lights between Carson and Gardnerville and of course we hit every single one. Second, the NIAA came out this year and said that no varsity football game was to begin before 7:30pm and that both J.V. and Freshman teams were to play on Thursday, which was a big deal because they decided this about a week before football season had started, so new schedules had to be made and printed. Well, we arrived at the game at about 7:25 and guess what - it was the second quarter.
So, enough of the complaining. The game was a blow out. When we arrived the score was already 14-0 (Douglas). Then we had a chance to score right before half time - we were on the 5 yard line - and instead we threw an interception and they ran it back for a 95 yard touchdown. On a happy note, Billy recovered a fumble and he did really well. Also, Kylan was able to sport his Fallon Greenwave shirt for the first time and he looked awfully cute! Today he will go to his first Soccer and Flag Football (mom first also) games to watch Reed and Carissa. Hopefully they have happier turnouts!

Kyle Detomasi

I've added a link in my Friends and Family to the web page chronicling Kyle's recovery. For those of you who don't know him, he is a graduate of CCHS who was shot in Boise, ID last week and robbed. For the complete story click here. On a personal note, Kyle is a kid who I have known for quite some time. He played basketball for my dad and he was one of my students during student teaching. He is a great kid and is always very friendly and upbeat. It is sad that senseless violence like this happens to such good people. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time.

Labor Day Parade

Kylan and Brentyn watching the action and just Brentyn. Sorry the pics dark, but he is the cutest little guy!

Kylan very intent on watching the parade
We hope everyone had a great labor day. We sure did! We started out the day by going to the Labor Day parade here in Fallon. I hadn't been to a parade in I figured about 13 years or so, even though I am blocked into my house everytime they have one in Fallon (the parade route goes right around neighborhood, so I can't leave)! So, I broke down and went. Uncle Cam and Aunt Carly came with us and we met Monica, Matt, Brentyn and Monica's family by the movie theaters. Brentyn and Ky both liked the parade until Brentyn got tired and fell asleep and until the firetrucks came and scared Ky to death! I also discovered that I haven't been missing much in the last 13 years! I think I will do what my Aunt and Uncle did with their kids - not tell them there's a parade and go to the lake every labor day and then when their kids were old enough to realize there was one, the didn't want to miss out on the lake!
Which brings me to my next bit of news - the Lake is way lower than it has been in years, so we weren't at the lake because they have advised that no boats be docked anymore due to the trees and island's popping up everywhere. Pretty sad. Hopefully next year we will have our normal amount of water.

Onward Greenwave, Onward Greenwave . . .

We attended another Fallon Football game last night, and guess what . . . WE WON!! That's right, we beat Wooster, which is another 4A team, however they aren't in our league, so it was a non-league win, but still it was very exciting. And the best part was that after we got ahead, it seemed like we suddenly started playing football. My cousin, Garrett had one of those awesome tackles where the guys legs go above his head, we blocked a punt and Bill had some really good blocks! The score was 8 to 7, so a very close game and very exciting to watch. We actually didn't score until the 4th quarter, but there were a lot of possession changes in the form of interceptions and fumbles, which I think makes it a lot more exciting! Once again, Kylan was awesome. He is so happy if he is at a sporting event where there is action to watch on the field and people everywhere that he can look at. He seems to have taken after his mom and Grandma Kenna's love of people watching!
Now if UNR can beat Nebraska, or at least keep up with them this will be the best weekend ever for my two favorite football teams!

Kylan so happy to be at the game, but wondering why mom is taking his picture yet again!

A picture of the score board. It was too far away to get a really good pic, but it does say "Home 8, Away 7"
Some excited looks on peoples faces!
A look at the football team on the field! Good job boys!!
