To the Mommys in the Audience!

I just wanted to throw this idea out to all the mommys who look at my blog. I hate changing diapers, absolutely HATE it. I do it because I am a mom and it has to be done, and I even change my nephews diaper for the same reason, but I absolutely detest it and am looking forward to potty training (I may be crazy). Which brings me to my point . . . My mom read this article about moms who are now beginning to put their kids on the toilet at 4 months old and then they are potty-trained by 18 months. I decided to give it a try and believe it or not it is working. I didn't start until a couple weeks ago. I just bought one of those seats you put on the big toilet and so far so good. I only put him on 2 or 3 times a day. At first as soon as I saw him grunting I would run him to the bathroom and sometimes he would be done, but we made it a couple times. Now the last couple of days I will sit him him on right after his naps and when he wakes up in the morning and he will go both number one and number two on the toilet. He still goes in his diaper of course, but he really seems to prefer the toilet (who wouldn't).
I don't know if it will help in the long run or anything, but I figure if nothing else its getting him used to the toilet (I know kids can be afraid of it), the clean up is easier and I don't have as many smelly diapers to dispose of! Let me know what you think, and if you have tried it let me know if it made a difference in the long run!

"She's Leaving on a Jet Plane . . ."

Well, Carly, aka Sister Sorensen, began her journey to London, England about 2 hours ago. She is going to be such a great missionary, but saying goodbye wasn't easy. Excuse the large number of photos in this post. I posted all of them mostly for Steve, Rachel, and Tonya since they were unable to be here for the final farewell. We all went over to President William's house for Carly to be set apart at about 4:00 yesterday. President Williams did such an awesome job and gave Carly a great blessing. After that we all headed to Reno and met at the Macaroni Grill for dinner and then we all stayed at Circus Circus. We played some games and had some ice-cream and then went to bed to wake up about 5 hours later to take Carly to the airport. All in all it was a great night, but a tough morning. Carly did really well though and once she left us she never looked back! We love you Carly and will miss you but we are so proud of you!

(EARLY) Christmas Time

I'm sure that you have noticed that I have already changed to a Christmas theme. I know it is early and I apologize to all of those who (like me usually) hate how Christmas seems to start earlier and earlier every year, but I do have a couple reasons for this early change:
1. It takes me a LONG time to get my header the right size, shape etc, so I wanted to use it longer
2. Since Carly leaves on her mission this week, we are having a "fake" holiday season for her. We had Thanksgiving yesterday and we are playing games, listening to Christmas music and watching Christmas movies tonight, so I am in the mood.
So, enjoy and forgive me for being so premature with the Christmas stuff! By the way, above are pics of last night with the Sorensen Fam. The Top one is Grandpa Brett, Ky and Carly, Next is Bradon with his fly swatters, and last is Carly and Ky.

Homecoming Football Game, 7 Months old, and 3 Year Anniversary

Yeah! I finally have pictures again! I no longer have my fancy background though. Something about it was messing my blogger up (I don't know how to explain it better because frankly, I don't get it!)

First, Fallon won their homecoming game against Spanish Springs, who has a pretty decent record this year. Billy got his first touchdown on the varsity team and he also won homecoming king (he was way more excited about the touchdown. He didn't even go to the homecoming dance after the game). He is number 80 if you can find him in the line of seniors.

Kylan turned 7 months old and had his 7 month appointment (should have been six month, but due to some delays with his 4 month shots we had to wait until he was 7 months). He is now 19lbs 7oz and 27 1/8 inch long/tall. He has started clapping and trying to pull himself up to standing by everything, but the only things he has been able to do it by so far are on his dad when he is laying on the ground with him and in his crib. Now when he doesn't want to sleep he stands at the end of his crib that's by the door and cries "MaMaMa...". He also sits by himself and can get into sitting position by himself. I can't believe how much he has learned in just the last few weeks! The pics above are of he and Carissa at Reed's flag football game and him kneeling in his crib. I haven't gotten a pic of him standing yet, and don't worry I have lowered his crib since this pic!

And last but not least, Tim and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary this week. My parents volunteered to watch Kylan over night for us (I guess having a baby one night is exciting) and we got a room in Reno and spent some baby free time together. It was very nice to be able to just get out of the car and walk in somewhere without having to get the diaper bag out, get Kylan out of his seat, pull the stroller out, etc. However, by the time we got home the next day we were both missing him a lot!
Hopefully I will be able to add some pics soon and a video of the clapping!

Splishin' and a Splashin'

Splishing and a splashing from Kassi Sorensen on Vimeo.
I took some fun video of Ky in the bath this morning. I hope no one is offended by a nudey baby bum! He loves to splash in the tub. Notice his fun toys and what he would prefer to do. I also put a pic of him sitting up and doing his "snuffy nose" and a pic of laying and doing it. My brothers will appreciate that! And yes Kal, he makes all the same noises, only louder (as you heard on the phone) and his going to sleep noise is always the background to our sacrament meeting because it seems that no matter where you take him in the church you can still hear him in the chapel!

My Husband . . .

My husband...
What is his name? Timothy Brett Sorensen
How long have you been together? Since November 1999
How old is he? 24
Who eats more? That depends - right now him, when I'm pregnant and not wanting to lose weight, me.
Who said I love you first? He did in a note he gave me in high school
Who is taller? Tim
Who sings better? We're both pretty tone deaf, but in my head I sing better!
Who is smarter? I think we're both equally smart, although he was too cool in high school to take the "smart" classes
Whose temper is worse? Mine.
Who does the laundry? I wash our normal clothes, he washes his own barn clothes
Who does the dishes? I do most of the time, but he always seems to know when I can't handle doing them and picks up the slack.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? He does.
Who pays the bills? I do
Who mows the lawn? He does, I can't start the lawn mower, I've tried!
Who cooks dinner? I do because I love to cook.
Who drives when you are together? I do most of the driving - Tim says he drives all day at the dairy and plus I have pretty bad motion sickness, and driving helps me not to get sick as much.
Who is more stubborn? hmmm. I think we can both be pretty stubborn at times.
Who is the first to admit when they're wrong? Tim probably (maybe I am more stubborn)
Whose parents do you see the most? Both - they both live in the same town and so we see our parents very often which we love!
Who kissed who first? Tim and then he said that we should just be friends - that didn't last long though!
Who asked who out? We both decided to go to our Junior prom together, but that was the first time we held hands in public, so we consider it our first date.
Who proposed? Tim, but we had set the date at least a week before the official proposal
Who is more sensitive? Tim, although I do cry easier (thanks dad), but he is way more sensitive and romantic!
Who has more friends? Tim - he is way more outgoing, most all my friends are family.
Who has more siblings? Tim - 3 sisters and 3 brothers. I have 4 brothers.
Who wears the pants in the family? I'd like to think I am in one pant leg and he is in the other. They're big pants.
I tag everyone in my friends and family list! I thought this was a fun one for learning more about everyone! Plus it was fun to reminisce!
