Safeway only had really big pumpkins or really small ones left, so I went with the big ones! Here is mine almost done and Tim working on his. His was really thick so it was hard to carve! On a side note, the tables we are carving on are where Brett and Teri's bar used to be. They are redoing their whole kitchen between now and Christmas!

And here are the finished products!

Turning a Blog into a Book

For anyone wondering how I turn our blog into a book each year, here is what I use and how it looks. I use a site called blurb.com. I wish I could say I discovered it on my own, but I actually got it from Mary. I think they are pretty reasonably priced and turn out pretty well. I figure if you take the time to blog it, it's worth paying to print it out, plus I don't keep a journal, so this is my journal each year!
I do the 8 1/2" x 11" book (standard size) and I like the hard cover with dust jacket. They also make soft cover and photo wrap, which has the phots printed right on the book cover.

Once you download the book maker and connect it to your blog and then choose which entries to include you can customize each page. You have unlimited photo and are charged by how many pages long your book ends up being. Plus, they store the books online for you, so if something happens to your book you can order another one down the road!

Things I Want to Remember

I finally ordered and received my blog book for last years blogs (I know just in time to do a new one in a few months), and as I looked and read through it I realized that I had already forgotten so many of the funny and cute things that my kids had done! I also realized that I don't do posts about these things as often, so I am going to do one now. Please feel free to skip this one, really it is more for Tim and I to look back on!

Kylan:
  • LOVES anything that has to do with hunting! He turns my couch or storage otteman into a blind daily. He even has make-believe hunting buddies and a make-believe dog (Maxi) and he yells "Take "em boys" when the birds come in and instructs Maxi to go get the birds and then tells him "good boy".
  • He is into the old cartoons on the Boomerang station and refers to them as "the other" cartoons.
  • When he really wants me to do something for him he asks if I will "make him a favor" (I ask him if he will do me a favor when I need him to get me something for Emmit)
  • He still goes to work every morning, which means putting on his rubber boots and going out into the front yard. He tells me that when he gets big and strong like his dad then he will go "breath" the cows with the "pokey" things.
  • He tells me all the time that grandpa (donald) is a bad shot, but that grandpa says "crappy shot", but we don't say crappy, we say bad (I think it's his way of saying crappy without getting in trouble)
  • In his prayers at night lately he has been blessing his future . . . don't know where he got that one!

Mya Rae

  • Is loving that she is sleeping in a big girl bed and can get out of bed on her own in the mornig and at nap time! and I love it too because I don't have to go upstairs and get her!
  • Loves to play tractors with Kylan
  • Loves the Little Mermaid and calls it the "pretty" movie
  • She LOVES new clothes and shoes and makes me put them on her immediately!
  • I painted her toes for the first time recently and she LOVED it and showed everyone!
  • Just learned how to jump and does it all the time, especially if she is dancing!
  • Isn't very free with her kisses, but will all of a sudden come up to us and give us a bunch!
  • Yesterday I was doing something and my hair was in my eyes and she came up and brushed it to the side for me like I do to hers all the time!

Emmit:

  • Smiles and laughs when I change his poopy diapers
  • Smiles and laughs at Kylan all the time - Kyky is definitly his favorite
  • Gets a little nervious when Mya gets too close - she doesn't intentionally hurt him, but isn't very careful around him!
  • Loves his mom! If he hears my voice he immediatly tries to find me!

Peanut Butter and Hives

We had peanut butter and jelly for lunch (like we do quite often) and about an hour later I noticed these popping up all over Mya. I thought they may have been chicken poks (she has been vaccinated but I have had a neice and nephew who were both vaccinated still get them), but by the time we got to the doctor it was pretty obvious they were hives. The picture was taken about 5 hours after they started, so they are pretty faded from the benedryl, but the poor thing is miserable. She reacts like I do to benedryl, half out of it and cranky! And this happened on a day that I was deep cleaning for the influx of family this weekend, trying to make something for dessert for Tim's court of honor tonight (luckily Heather also made something so he is covered), and I was also supposed to glue Tim's patches onto his new scout shirt. I made brownies from a box, Tim is going to wear his uncles shirt and the kids just ate cereal for dinner. Being a mom is never boring!
P.S. the doctor told me to try her with a small amount of peanut butter in a couple weeks just to make sure that is what caused it, but to be sure to have Benedryl on hand because the reaction will get worse each time!

Big Girl Bed and Reno

Here is Mya taking her first nap in her big girl bed! She only got out of bed once because she had forgotten all of her stuffed animals that she likes to sleep with, but once she had them she was good to go! We are so proud of her! And I'm sure that she will be so happy that she can get out of bed on her own instead of having to wait for me to come get her!Saturday we ran to Reno for a quick shopping trip. We always bride the kids with ice-cream at the end of the day if they are good, and they were super good so here we all are enjoying our ice-cream! Kylan said this was the best vanilla ice-cream he has ever had - it was sweet-cream from Marble Slab! He only ever wants vanilla so I told him a little white lie!

Emmit was on the floor in his carseat enjoying a bottle!
And here is Kylan in his "super hero" costume that he has wanted since last Halloween when his cousin Braden was superman! He puts it on daily and luckily we have an extra cape for Mya to wear too. The funniest part was that he made Tim fly him around the living room in it!

Two Months Old

Here is my big 2 month old. I can't even believe that it has been two months! As a special present to his mom for being one day shy of 2 months Emmit slept all night last night for the first time! He has been only getting up once, and for some reason 2 months seems to be the magic age for all my kids to decide it's okay to sleep the whole night! Anyway, he is crying, Mya is driving me crazy and it's almost bedtime so here are his stats from his appointment today:
Weight: 12lbs 1oz 60th%
Length: 22 1/2 inches 25th%
Head (I don't know the cm's) 50th%
We watched Logan last night while his mom played volleyball and so here are the three cousin's in the bath together! They had a great time!

Eating Cinnamon Rolls . . . Yum!!!

Yep, be jealous. These are the yummieness that we ate this morning. It's a tradition of ours on conference weekend to have cinnamon rolls on Sunday morning. And I know you are wondering and no I did not get up at the crack of dawn to make these. I make them the night before and then stick them in the fridge to rise overnight slowly.

Mya loved her's. She ate it like a piece of watermelon, it was pretty funny to watch. She squealed in delight when I brought her downstairs and she saw hers on her plate. She takes after her mom!

Kylan helped me make the cream cheese frosting and when I told him he couldn't taste it anymore or he would get sick he told me he was three so he needed to take three more bites (we tell him this when he hasn't eaten enough at a meal, smart kid has learned to use it against us).

He didn't get to enjoy the yummieness but I had to include some cute pics of our 8 week old Emmit. He is smiling now and even laughs once in a while (especially at his big brother). He loves to play with this toy and his floor mat and can hit the toys after lots of concentration and determination. Best of all, he only gets up once in the night now and the time he is awake is getting shorter and shorter each night so I'm sure sleeping the night is just around the corner! He also can put himself to sleep and sometimes prefers it over me rocking him! He is such a good baby, we are so blessed!
