Two Months plus and Other Photos

Well, it has already been two whole months plus since Mya Rae entered the world and I can't even believe it!! It's like she has always been part of the family already. I think we are adjusting well, Kylan has been a slower in adjusting (he's still working on it). Luckily he has never really been mad at Mya, just mom and dad. I can leave her on the bed with him back in our room and come out to the living room to do something, and I know that he won't hurt her. In fact, he likes her to watch his movies with him back there, and thinks that when she moves her arms and legs that she is dancing.
Mya is smiling and laughing and "talking" all the time now. She especially likes to talk to Kylan, dad and her toys. She rolled once, but hasn't again and I'm not sure how much she weighs (she has shots next month, so we will find out), but she has grown a lot and is now in 3-6 month clothing. Her hair has thinned a little, but she still doesn't have a bald spot on the back of her head. Her head is more and more red all the time though, so maybe she will be a red head permanantly, I guess we'll have to wait and see!!! Here are some pics before and after church today!

Ky's Birthday and Mya Update . . .

Kylan's party went very well. He understood it was his birthday better than I thought he would, so he was very hyper on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday I left Mya at my mom's house and Tim and I took him to lunch at the slanted porch (won't lie, that was more for mom and dad than Kylan) and he had rootbeer and chicken strips and then we went to the park. Dad had to go back to work after that, and Ky and I went to the store, which doesn't seem too exciting, but he loved going to the store with me before Mya was born. He loved being with just Tim and I. Sunday, all afternoon he sang happy birthday to himself and Mya and kept pointing out his presents and then became extra hyper when he noticed me making cupcakes. Luckily he fell asleep on the way to grandma's and was able to sleep there for a couple hours before his party.

He loved all of his presents and it took him forever to open them because he wanted to play with each one. It was pretty cute! I took mainly video, but I did snap a couple pictures, so here they are!

Kylan and Braden playing with his toys and watching his Looney Toons DVD that he got.

Little Leah walking around and playing with the remotes (that's right WALKING and she is only 9 months old)

Kylan amiling for the camera

Eating an apple. He bites off all the skin and spits it out and then eats the apple. I have tried cutting it up and cutting the skin off, but he likes to eat the apple whole. Also, he now tells me to keep taking his picture until he thinks he has smiled right, so this is like the 4th or 5th picture.

Mya taking a shower with dad. You have to love those big blue eyes!!

On to the update on Mya:

Not sure how much she weights, but I would guess over 10lbs. She gets bigger and bigger everyday!!! She is also sleeping well. She goes to bed at about 11:30 every night and sleeps 5 hours and then is up for 30min-1hour and then sleeps another 4 hours. We are so proud of her!!! She is also smiling and talking and loves to smile at Kylan and her dad the most. Her brother is already getting on her nerves when he kisses her too much and she already gets on his when she cries! I can't wait to see how they bug each other when she is able to move around and get into his things!!!

Happy Birthday!!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Kylan Brett!
I can't believe it's already been 2 years since this sweet boy has joined our family, and yet I can't remember a time without him either!
He has always been so strong and yet the sweetest boy and has the most tender heart. He gives the best kisses and hugs and I am treasuring evey single one because I know the day will come that he won't give them as freely as he does now! We are so blessed to have him as our son and Mya is blessed to have him to look out for her!

Just a few days old

Who Knew Thai Food Could Be So Easy!!

My Aunt Inkham has passed down her best Thai cook book to Kent, so we have been trying out some recipes. She told Kent that the recipes were easy and most of the ingredients easy to find and she was right!!! We (Tim, Ky and I) LOVE Thai food, as does most of my family and actually a lot of Tim's now, so I have been so excited!!! I have posted the two recipes I have made so far and I will post more as we try them out! I always thought this food would be hard to make and even harder to find the ingredients of, so I am so excited and want to share with everyone!!!
All the ingredients can be found in the store, except the rice noodles. I had to go to the Asian Market to get those, but I think I have seen them in Raley's. The fish and oyster sauces are in the Asian food section of the store and the dry red peppers are on the spice isle in the little plastic bags.
If you like Thai/Chinese food try these recipes! They are awesome and did I mention that Inkhams mom owned a Thai resturant in the Bay Area for many years and used some of the recipes from this book??!!!

Pud Thai

(This isn't a picture of mine, we ate it all, but it gives you an idea of how it should look if you aren't familiar with the dish, although mine wasn't as dark colored)

4 Servings

8oz dried rice noodles/sticks (the ones I found were called sticks)
3 T oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 egg
1/4 lb shrimps, shelled and devained
1/4 C water (use only if noodles are dry while cooking)

1/4 C fish sauce
1/4 C sugar
1 T paprika

1 green onion cut into 1 inch pieces
1/4 C ground peanuts
1 C bean sprouts

1. Soak rice noodles in cold water for 2-3 hours or until soft.
2. Heat frying pan; add oil, garlic, egg, and shrimp. Scramble egg until done. Reduce heat if necessary.
3. Drain noodles and add to mixture. Stir fry until translucent, adding a small amount of water if needed.
4. When noodles are soft, add fish sauce, sugar and paprika.
5. Mix in peanuts, bean sprouts and onion.

Cashew Chicken

Serves 4

1/4 T Oil
2 Cloves Garlic, minced
1/2 lb sliced chicken (2 breasts)
Sauce:
1 T fish sauce
2-3 T oyster sauce
1 1/2 - 2 T Sugar
1 t sesame oil
1/2 C red dry peppers (or less depending on how hot you want it)

1/2 C roasted cashew
1 green onion chopped

1. Heat pan; add oil, garlic, chicken and all sauce ingredients (the 1/2 C peppers makes it pretty hot, so if you don't like things too spicy, don't add that many, or don't add any at all).
2. Turn heat to high and reduce sauce until a glaze forms. Mix in cashews and garnish with onions.

I tried to upload from our new camera a video, but the file was too big I guess and so it was taking too long. I was able to upload it to Facebook for those of you on there.

In other news this week, we put up blinds in our living room and Kylan's room. We have lived in our house 3 1/2 years and just now put up blinds in the rooms that didn't have them when we bought it. It is so nice and we are wondering why we didn't do it earlier! Tim also cut Ky's hair today and he buzzed it a little shorter than we thought it would be, but he's still cute and it will  and it won't get all messed up in his car seat! Kylan has also learned how to do sumersaults (sp?). Uncle Kent taught him while we were at the DHI dinner this week. It's pretty cute, and it makes him very tired!!!

Our New Camera . . . and pics of the kids!

So far I love it! Here you can see how small it is. An LCD screen opens on the side.

It can hold 7 hours of video on the highest quality, and it does still images that you can save seperately on an SD card (I haven't tried that yet).

Here's Mya making her "o" lips.

Looking at dad.

Kylan in all his glory!!!

New Camera

Tim and I broke down and ordered a new video camera from Costco yesterday. It will be our birthday presents for the year. We have a nice video camera that takes the small tapes, but I lost the battery charger and when I finally got around to finding out how much it would cost to order a new charger I about died! I knew it would be expensive, but not that expensive. So . . . we have been wanting a HDD camera (one that doesn't need tapes or dvds, but records onto an internal memory and then you download the video onto you computer and burn your own dvd's), so we decided to just get one. Costco had one on sale that we liked and it should be here tomorrow or Monday.
I hope we like it!!!!

A Post on Kylan

Even though he has been a bit of a terror lately, he does have his sweet moments, so here are a few:

Posing with "baby sister Mya" - he sure loves this "pretty girl" as he calls her and loves to have his picture taken with her. He has also entered the cheesy smile stage!

Helping me make cookies. He loves to help me cook and he loves eating the dough even more!

Playing with Reed while sitting in Mya's chair and sucking on a pacifier. Reed and Carissa came over after school today and he was so excited. If I hadn't been so busy taking advantage of him being occupied so that I could do some cleaning I would've taken some pictures of them playing with him outside. He absolutely loved having them!

NOt the best picture of Mya, she was a little upset, but a cute picture of Carissa, so I had to post it. These two are awesome and will be really good babysitters in a couple more years (actually if Kylan was potty trained I would hire them now, but I don't want to make them change his nasty diapers).
I would type more but Kylan is demanding Mac and Cheese right now, so I better go!
