Pumpkin Carving and Trick-or-Treat

Kylan, Mya and I carved our pumpkins the day or trick or treating - at least they were ready for that night right? And since Fallon always trick-or-treats before the actual Halloween, we were able to light them for a couple more nights! Mya wanted a pink pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, which Kylan reported to her after he went was impossible since they were all orange, so she painted hers pink and purple. Kylan, to my surprise, was able to carve his own pumpkin all by himself. He even drew most of the face himself! However when it came to cleaning out the inside he couldn't do it. His dad made him take out one handful and he was gagging the whole time. If you've ever seen Four Christmases Kylan has the same reaction as Vince Vaughn does when the baby spits up on Reece Witherspoon anytime a baby spits up, someone throws up, he sees me changing a poopy diaper or many other things he thinks are disgusting (in this case, touching the inards of a pumpkin).

That night we went trick-or-treating to the aunts and uncles and grandparents. It was a lot of fun. Before we went I took pics of the kids outside with the pumpkins. It was actually a pretty warm night which made it really nice to be out and about!

Emmit was supposed to be a cow, but he had a total meltdown when I put his costume on, so I put on his halloween shirt and called it good.

Lions and Tigers and Bears . . . Oh My!

For Nevada Day us, my parents, Kade, Leah and Evan and Lynne and Derild, Reed and Carissa all went over the Sacramento for the day. We left Fallon at 8:00am and we were back in Reno by 6:30pm. We did a little shopping there before we headed back to Fallon, so we were home and in bed by about 9:30pm. We all met at Boom Town and then traveled on from there together. Lynne and Derild were so nice and let Evan and Kylan ride in their car with them and Reed and Carissa. I think the boys kept them pretty entertained as well as themselves! Our car was very quiet with only Mya and Emmit. They both slept pretty much the whole way to sacramento and the whole way back to Reno. Poor Emmit was pretty sick the whole time, but the trip allowed him plenty of sleep and relaxation, so he did really well!

Our first stop was Leatherby's. If you have never been here you must go next time you are in Sacramento! They have the best crab sandwiches and the best homemade ice-cream! We did not plan for the boys to match it just happened! Aren't they all so cute!

After they ate their lunch they each got ice-cream. Mya has Strawberry because it is pink.

Evan had chocolate.

And Ky had vanilla.

Emmit loved walking around and he is into climbling on things, so he kept trying to climb back into his seat.

Leatherby's is seriously one of my absolute favorite places to eat. Plus it reminds me of when I was little and we would eat there. It's crazy to think that I am now taking my own kids there!
Our next stop was the zoo.

The giraffs are Kylan and Grandma's favorite to see. Mya's favorite was the chimps who were swinging around and playing with the water from the hose that they were using to clean their cage while we were there.

Emmit was pretty much not impressed with any of the animals, well except the ottors because they would come right up to the glass so he could see them. He didn't complain though. He just drank his bottle and ate some snacks and enjoyed riding in his stroller!

Here's Mya and Kylan looking at either the lions or the tiger. They loved all the animals and since we went on a day that wasn't a holiday in California the zoo was pretty empty so it was nice for the kids and it didn't take long at all the get through it!

It was such a nice day and a nice trip! Thank you mom and dad for planning it for us! We loved it! And best of all everyone was so tired when we got home that everyone (including Emmit ) slept all night long!

Trunk or Treat

We were going to be in Sacramento the night of our ward Trunk or Treat so we went to my parent's ward Trunk or Treat earlier in the week. The kids had a ton of fun. Kylan really loved trunk or treating, Emmit hung out with grandpa and Mya sat in grandma's trunk and handed out candy (after putting candy in about 5 peoples baskets, she would then throw a handful in her own. I think we came home with half of grandma's candy). I didn't get any pics of the actually party, but here are some from before.

My pretty princess and handsome and tough superman.

I love this costume, but it was still a little big on Emmit and was making him way off balance. He actually ended up going in the cow costume, but he looked cute as a giraff also while it lasted!
Kylan keeps wanting to jump in pictures. Everytime I take his picture at home lately he jumps at the last second. Kind of cute, but kind of annoying!

Emmit

Emmit has suddenly become more of a little boy and less of a baby in the last few weeks. He can now get into anything and everything and I can't leave any food or drink where he can reach it, or as soon as I turn my back he has it and it is all over him and the floor! He is already trying to run and has gotten pretty fast, he loves to wrestle with Kylan and follow him around everywhere! He is already becoming very good at playing tractors and loves to hug and kiss his brother and sister. He is learning new words all the time, but he still loves to walk around yelling "MYA!". He still gets shy when other people talk to him and loves his mom, but he is becoming more and more of a daddy's boy each day and he is starting to get that Grandma and Grandpa's are pretty fun too! He loved the few times he was able to ride with Tim in the dump truck this fall. And my favorite thing that he does right now is when he hugs me tight around my neck and just nestles his little head on my shoulder. We sure do love our Emmit boy!

Sunday Best

This Sunday I attempted to get some cute pics of the kids in their church clothes (I love dressing my kids up for church), but unfortunately only Kylan was into it. Mya was grouchy and told me to stop taking her picture and Emmit was tired and ready for a nap (he is every sunday when we are leaving for church).

Funny Emmit story at church: I have stopped trying to get him to sleep at church because if we do, he sleeps for about 30 mins and then won't take a nap when we get home and is really cranky so it's better to deal with his crankiness for the last hour of church and then have him sleeps for 2-3 hours when we get home. Well, this sunday I was standing in the hall with him while he was whining and I was chatting with another mom that has a little guy about his age and all of a sudden Emmit faceplants into my shoulder and I look down and he was out. I guess if he gets tired enough he will fall asleep no matter what!

On a side note - only 5 more months and a week until he is in nursery!

Mya at the Pumpkin Patch

A week after Ky went to the pumpkin patch with his class, Tristin Reagan and Greyson came to town and we went again while Ky was in preschool. It was a lot of fun! We looked at the animals, walked out the pumkin patch and then sat outside and ate cinnamon rolls. We then went to pick up Ky and Tristin and her kids came back to our house and played with us for most of the day. It was a lot of fun!
Mya took FOREVER to find a pumpkin. She kept finding "cute" ones but then would say they were too dirty to take home. Before Kylan went to the pumpkin patch, she was sure she was going to find a pink one, but then Kylan reported to her when he got home that there were only orange ones. Grandma Kenna said if she would've come with us she would have went and got one a few days ahead, painted it pink and then put it back so she could have found it! Wish we would have thought of that!

Kylan's Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Kylan's preschool class had their first field trip this year. They went to Lattin's Farms to the pumpkin patch.

Here's the whole group - Megan, Hallie, Kate, Trevor, Braden and Ky with Mr. Keele.
Making silly faces. Notice only the boys made funny faces!

Ky's pumpkin which he said was too heavy so he made Kate carry it to the wagon. Such a gentle man!

The three boys - Ky, Braden and Trevor.

Mrs. Stark was taking their picture, but I loved how Ky had put his arm around Braden. These two love each other!

At the end they got to ride the cow train.

Counting the eggs in the chicken coup with Mrs. Stark (who was my preschool teacher too).

Kylan is absolutely loving preschool!

Mom's Birthday

Sorry mom, you closed your eyes in every pic I took! My mom turned 50 this year, and even though she thinks she is near death she's so old, I don't think 50 is very old anymore because she looks too young! She kept saying she wanted to celebrate her last day of being 49, not turning 50, so that's why he cake says 49! We love you mom! Thanks for being such a great mom and grammy!!!

Here's what Kade, Leah and us gave her for her birthday. They are Christmas ornaments - Leah did the pics and I made them. I think they turned out pretty cute!

Pretty Princesses

While the boys are at preschool, Leah and Mya like to get together and play at each others houses. Here they are one day playing dress up at our house. Such cute girls! And of course Emmit wanted in on the picture taking!

7 Year Itch . . .

Yesterday was our 7 year anniversary. And despite the title, there is no itch here!

So, between sick kids, sick husband and getting ready for church neither of us remembered our anniversary until my brother-in-law mouthed "Happy Anniversary" to me from down the row when I got to church. Oops! I figured if there was ever an appropriate time to text during sacrament meeting this would be it (yes, I texted happy anniversary to my sick hubby at home during sacrament meeting, but it was during the hymn, so that made it better)!

So, 3 apartments, two houses, 4 vehicles, 3 kids and 7 years later I could not be happier! I love you hubby! Thanks for 7 AMAZING years!

One More Funny Story . . .

I knew I was going to forget one! And I did, one of the best ones! This needs a little background. When I am cleaning the house I like to watch Hairspray. Singing along to the songs makes cleaning relaxing and fun. Since I turn it on at least once a week to clean to, the kids have come to really like it. Even my nephew Braden who happened to be here on a cleaning day a couple weeks ago was into it and was dancing along with my kids. Kylan calls it the Tracy movie (which is funny in itself) and both kids sing along to the songs and try to do the dance moves. Kylan and I were singing along to "Welcome to the '60's" one day this week and he turned to me and said, "Mom, when it gets dark today I'm going to sing this song to you and show you everything." Kind of have to know the movie/play to get it, but it was pretty cute! I love this boy!

Funny Kids

Eating cinnamon rolls is our family tradition for Sunday morning General Conference. Unfortunately for my taste buds, but great for my waist I only make cinnamon rolls now for General Conference. However, I may make it a Christmas tradition as well this year (twice a year is just not enough)!

This is a common sight at our house. For some reason this is a favorite place for our kids to play (especially for Kylan and Emmit). I'm not sure why, but it's pretty cute.

Our kids have been saying some pretty funny things lately, so I thought I better blog a few before I forget!

  • Mya LOVES to watch He Man. It is her favorite cartoon and it's so funny because it was Tim's as well when he was her age. She will tell me about He Man for 15 minutes straight. The other day she was telling me that her arm is broken (another common thing for her to say) and she told me that He Man was going to fix it for her. I said "Oh that's great. Do you love He Man?" (meaning the cartoon as a whole) and she replied, "Yes. He my boyfriend mom!" Oh no, it's already starting.

  • Today Tim asked Mya if he looked like He Man. She said, "Yes, you look like He Man. Take your shirt off daddy!" Tim didn't, but we got a good chuckle out of it!

  • We forgot to take our trash can out and we heard the garbage truck coming, so Tim ran outside to catch it because it was full this week. Both kids ran to the play room and were watching him out of the window. They were both cheering him on saying "run fast dad" and then Mya added "Run fast dad, like He Man."

  • Mya likes to put her own undies back on now when she goes to the bathroom. So, this means they are usually on backwards, inside out, or occationally she is wearing them up around her waiste because she has put both legs in the same hole.

  • When I picked Ky up from preschool the other day he and Braden were talking on their way to their cars and Kylan said (very loudly) "Remember Bra-bra we aren't supposed to tell anyone that Trevor has a girlfriend." Then he preceeded to tell me the same thing. When I asked him who Trevor's girlfriend was he paused, then said "I don't know mom, he just has one."

  • He told me the other day that he had something very important to tell me. He then asked me if I could come quail hunting with he and dad and bring the video camera and video them hunting.

  • Kylan told Grandma Teri last night that the coyotes howling at night scare him. Teri told him he could call Jeff (whitaker) and tell him to come shoot him. She said he told Jeff on the phone, "Jeff, you have you come shoot these coyotes. Bring your BIG gun!"

  • He loves to think that he has scared/shocked Mrs. Stark, so when I picked hip up after he had brought his duck calls for show and tell the first thing he told me was, "Mom, I blowed my call and scared Mrs. Stark!" Poor Mrs. Stark!

Well, I'm sure there are more stories, but I can't think of any right now! These kids crack me up everyday!

A Little Dairy Humor

You probably have to know Rick to really appreciate this story, but Mary said I should blog it or she is going to, so here is the story. Tim was treating a sick cow and Rick was helping him that morning with chores. The shot Tim was giving the cow had to be given in the vein, so to keep the cow from kicking you, you "tail" the cow - hold it's tail in the air so it won't kick. Rick has done this lots of times. Anyway, here's how the conversation went:
Tim: Hey Rick, TAIL this cow while I give her this shot.
Rick: Ok, what do you want me to TELL her.
Tim: (laughs a little then says) Tell her a story about your life to distract her so she doesn't kick me.
Rick: (Walks to the cows head) Hey, how are you doing? My name is Rick . . .
I have laughed for two days now over this story. It's a classic Rick story now!

Catch Up Post

Random picture of Emmit and I taken by Kylan.

So just a few things have happened since my last post. First of all my camera stopped working. I knew it was probably because the little watch battery thing in it was dead, but there was also the possibility that it had finally died. Luckily it was just the battery, but it took me a couple weeks to remember to bring it to walmart with me to get a new one. The guys spent the last couple weeks chopping corn and are finally finished. I am so glad they are done because maybe my hubby will get a day off before 4th crop, however it was nice to be able to bum a kid or two off on Tim throughout the day to ride in the dump truck. Even Emmit enjoyed his few rides. I also kind of caught a crafting bug which started with making the next 3 season/holiday blocks with Rayanne, then I made some yarn wreathes with my sister-in-laws and some cute little head bands for my neice Kinzie that will be born around Christmas time. And, in the midst of all of that Emmit learned to walk and sleep the night (finally), all three of the kids had the flu, Kylan had a sinus infection caused by his allergies and now Emmit had a mystery fever last night and this morning. Hopefully I will get back to my normal blogging schedule now that things have somewhat calmed down and I have my camera back.

Mya in the morning. Oh, she is in undies full time now, even at night! No more pullups for her! Whoohoo!!!

Kylan pretending to be in a tent camping (I think). He and Mya are really into pretending lately. It's pretty cute!

One wreath I made. It turned out to be a little more halloweenish because I used only felt and those were the only fallish colors of felt at Walmart. I branched out to fleece for the ones I made with my sister-in-laws. I think I like the fleece flowers better.
